How easy is the Kuvings whole slow juicer B1700 to use?
All the component parts of this juicer are encouragingly weighty. The base is a little heavy, which is worth considering if you’ll take this juicer in and out of a cupboard regularly, rather than keeping it on a countertop.
This model is easy to assemble thanks to the clear and concise manual. For added assistance, there are little red dots on all the parts that, when aligned, fit everything together. Once assembled, this model has a compact footprint and sits at just 45cm tall, so will easily fit under low kitchen cupboards.
We loved the wide feeding chute, which allowed us to fit apples in whole. The chute is also spacious enough to pop all your ingredients in if you’re making juice for one or two, so you don’t have to constantly feed items in, but you do need to use the food pusher to get everything down.
The manual offers a decent amount of food prep advice to ensure you get the most out of fruit and veg. They also provide a considerable amount of extraction advice.
Cleaning tools are provided, as the component parts of this model are unfortunately not dishwasher safe. The tools are large and sturdy, so there’s no chance of them getting lost or shoved to the back of a drawer. Thanks to the tools, clean up isn’t too difficult. The rotation wiper fits snugly to the strainer, leaving it squeaky clean in just a few passes.
Results
When it came to our apple, carrot, ginger and kale juice, we really couldn’t fault this Kuvings machine. The juice was silky smooth and intensely flavoursome.
The juice was a bright green colour, indicating the kale had been juiced in its entirety. When we inspected the waste, it was totally dry, meaning this model provides an exceptional juice yield.
How sustainable is the Kuvings whole slow juicer B1700?
We felt a little let down by Kuvings when it came to questions around sustainability. The manual doesn’t detail how to recycle this model after use, nor does it tell you where to buy spare parts, should something break. We did find a couple of parts online, but there was nothing provided to point us to those. While each part of this juicer is exceptionally well made and sturdy, we all know that accidents happen, and a juicer – particularly one as costly as this one – shouldn’t become redundant if something easily replaceable breaks.
No recipes are included with this model either, which is a shame. As a result, there are no useful tips and tricks detailing what to do with the waste, which we’ve seen from other juicer brands.
Unfortunately, each component part of this juicer comes packed in plastic, with no details of how to effectively recycle it, which was disappointing.
Conclusion
For those looking for a serious juicer that can tackle hard fruits, fibrous veggies and leafy greens with total ease, this model ticks all the boxes. We felt let down by the lack of sustainability information in the manual and the plastic packaging; this is an area Kuvings shouldn’t fall behind other brands in.
But this is a sturdy and attractive juicer. If you like a colourful appliance we’ve spotted this model in a couple of colours that aren’t classic gunmetal grey. It’s easy to use and quiet. Although its parts aren’t dishwasher safe, cleaning tools are provided.
