The Kuvings machine is a powerful masticating juicer with a bunch of added features making it particularly easy-to-use – exactly what you’d hope for with its price tag. It produces smooth, full-bodied juices with a clean, balanced taste, making the most of your ingredients.
We found it fairly easy to unpack and put together, although it has more parts than other juicers we tried. There is a built-in handle on the back for lifting the main body from its box, plus its six parts arrive stacked inside each other representative of their order within the machine.
To make its assembly easier, the stacker build style pieces are marked with red dot indicators to help you line them up correctly. The key screw mechanism fits into the centre of the juicer drum before the lid is screwed on and the feeder funnel features a lid lock for keeping in unruly ingredients whilst they descend into the screw – this was really useful.
We found the wide chute particularly efficient as small apples can be dropped in whole and handfuls of leaves added at a time, which reduced prep time and makes for a really easy juicing. For any stubborn chunks, the rocker switch at the back of the machine allows you to reverse the screw, release chunks and guide them down.
Where other juicers struggle to break down fibrous vegetables like kale or ginger, the Kuvings excels, crushing them into fine pulp before passing them through its sieve drum. There was some residual moisture left in the pulp but this was negligible.
The juice it produces is of very high quality. The juicer sieves are wiped free of pulp by an accessory during the juicing process, which helps to keep extracted juice smooth, clean and fresh.
The machine arrives with its own containers for catching juice and pulp from two chutes. There’s a tap attachment on the juicer spout which works well for stopping juice drips. Both tubs have handles and one has a useful spout for safely decanting your fresh juice into a glass or jug. You don’t get much unpredictable mess with the Kuvings.
Because the machine is particularly upright, its footprint on the kitchen counter is smaller compared to other juicers we tested, which also makes it easier for storage, although this doesn’t take into account the two containers needed during use (these stack for easy storage). When built, the juicer is quite tall so is unlikely to fit underneath cupboards.
Unfortunately its parts are not dishwasher friendly and you can spend a while scrubbing away. There are bespoke cleaning tools provided, which are fitted to the shape of the juicer drums sections. This does make hand-cleaning the small exposed blades easier.
