What is the Hurom H200 slow juicer like to use?
The Hurom H200 was one of the easier models to assemble. There are just five parts to fit together and there are useful alignment indicators on each part. The feeding bowl slots onto the main unit with ease, as does the hidden collection jug at the back, giving this juicer a totally streamlined appearance.
This is a self-feeding juicer, meaning no manual feeding is required. Simply flip the lid of the main bowl, add your ingredients and let the juicer do the prep. Little to no prep is required as fruits and veggies can be put in whole.
The juicer runs at 50 rotations per minute, slowly squeezing the food through the machine. There are sturdy blades at the base of the main bowl that help to break up ingredients and feed them down.
Disassembly is fast and cleaning is quick and easy. Whilst tools are provided, this model has been designed to be cleaned easily under the tap. The main bowl, which can become clogged with residue, comes with silicone flaps and covers that are easily removed to access every inch of the bowl. Unfortunately, the parts aren’t dishwasher-safe, but clean-up was quick and easy.
Results
Two filters are provided with this model, one for smooth juice and another coarse strainer, for thicker juices with pulp.
For our kale, apple, ginger and carrot juice we used the fine strainer, which produced a super-smooth juice, free from foam and wayward bits. The juice was a strong, bright green, indicating all of the kale had been processed well. We sifted through the waste pulp too and found it was compacted and dry, signifying that all of the juice had been extracted.
After cleaning we switched out the fine strainer for the course and popped in two peeled oranges. This model produced clean orange juice with just a bit of pulp. Again, the waste was dry.
How sustainable is the Hurom H200 slow juicer?
We felt the manual was lacking somewhat. It doesn’t detail how to recycle the juicer after use, nor does it point you in the direction of spare parts, should you need them. Though, we did find parts for sale on Hurom's own UK website and specialist juicer websites.
There are no recipes included with this juicer and as such, no details of innovative ways to use the waste product.
We received a pre-used sample of the juicer so can’t speak to how this product is packaged and if there are any recyclable elements.
Conclusion
This is an expensive juicer, no two ways about it. But it does deliver. Easy to set up, equally simple to use, versatile and producing high-quality juice, in all aspects this is a fantastic juicer.
We loved its design – the sleek appearance means it deserves pride of place on the kitchen counter. Although the manual is detailed on all matters concerning using the juicer, we’d have liked more details about how to recycle it or where to buy spare parts; this is an expensive model which shouldn’t become redundant if an integral part is accidentally broken.
This juicer was nothing short of a joy to use and, if you’re serious about juicing and can afford it, it’s a must-buy.
