This is a small fryer, so it would suit singles or couples, not families. The basket is only just big enough to hold a couple of chicken breasts or a handful of chips, but that’s not to say it can’t fry them nicely.

With 900W of power, it’ll heat up to 200 degrees in just over five minutes. Once pre-heated, our double portions of sweet potato chips crisped up nicely with an additional 25 minutes, and pork chops came out perfectly cooked with crisp fat after 20 minutes.

No tricky electronic controls or displays here; to set the time and temperature, you simply turn the dials to the desired setting and it ticks down to the 'ping!' before switching off. It can be timed for up to 30 minutes.

While other air fryers would have pre-sets for the likes of prawns or chicken portions, the VonShef fryer has illustrations of dishes with reminders of their recommended times and temperatures for each. We found it tricky in some lights to see the exact timings, as the markings are on the small side and aren't illuminated.

As with a few of the other air fryer models we rated highly, shiny black casing does show finger marks, but we liked the rose gold accents on the glossy casing.

Easily the lightest air fryer in our round-up, this model was easy to store away on a shelf when not in use.
