Tefal Perfectmix blender review
Investing in a good jug blender is worthwhile if you make a lot of soups and smoothies. Read our review of the Perfectmix by Tefal to see how it performed in our tests.
Tefal Perfectmix BL811D40
Pros: compact, powerful
Cons: heavy
Star rating: 4.5/5
With its stainless steel and dark grey design, the Tefal Perfectmix is an impressive-looking model. It's also compact enough to be able to sit on display on the kitchen counter, too.
It features 'Tripl'Ax technology' – which combines six strong and sharp Powelix blades, each performing a different function to ensure a thorough blend (they reach an impressive 28,000 rotations per minute).
This, combined with its powerful 1200W motor, means the Tefal Perfectmix BL811D40 is incredibly fast, efficient and adept at tackling the task in hand.
It comes with a variable speed setting, meaning you can have complete control over whatever you're creating, plus an in-built air cooling system to prevent overheating.
There's also the option of using the accompanying spatula should any stubborn ingredients stick to the side of the jug, but we didn't find we had a need for it.
Overall, we found it blended ingredients well – it claims to be able to blend ingredients 50% finer than previous models in its range – and this particular appliance certainly didn't struggle to make our tester smoothie.
Handily, there are also a number of pre-programmed settings, offering the options of smoothie, ice crush and auto clean settings, so you can leave the blender to get on with its job. The pulse option is useful if you're looking to enlist extra bursts of energy.
The cleaning function is very thorough, and beeps when it has finished. The blades are removable and dishwasher-safe, but do take care as they are sharp.
The sizeable 2-litre capacity glass jug is built to last and feels solid and durable. If you're looking for a lightweight model though, you might be better off finding a blender with a smaller (or non-glass) jug as this can be particularly heavy when filled to capacity.
Handily, the jug is also thermo-resistant, so if you're looking to make up and serve a hot soup with ease, this is for you. The jug's generous size also means that if you're feeding a group, or batch-cooking soups or sauces, it's easily achievable.
