Indoba Cibus pedestal barbecue

Pros: Unusual design, easy cleaning
Cons: Narrow direct cooking

Overall score: 3.5/5

Undoubtably, the all-stainless steel Indoba Cibus barbecue is unusual. It stands tall on its column, which as well as holding it up, contains an air vent for controlling airflow to the fire box above and the ash pan.

Putting the Cibus together was easy thanks to the clear instructions. However, care has to be taken as some of the edges of the stainless steel are sharp, as are some corners once constructed.

The 47cm square cooking rack is more than sufficient for four or more, but the area of direct cooking is limited to the centre as the sloping sides of the fire box mean the coals cannot be spread far.

The heat distribution through the stainless steel is good, going to the outer reaches of the grill plate. It kept food warm and was useful for any gentle indirect cooking.

Using two wooden handles, the grill rack was easy to raise and lower through the three varying heights. The combination of being able to raise the height as well as move the food to various temperatures make this a very versatile grill and all the food cooked easily and well.

Cleaning is quick and easy as the ash falls down the central column and collects in the ash pan, both unusual and very practical.
