Dualit Domus kettle review
The Dualit is a compact but powerful little kettle that is loud and proud about its branding. If the price doesn’t put you off, this is great for saving space.

While the shiny, stainless steel Dualit Domus kettle doesn’t come cheap, it’s brilliantly designed. There are two water windows – one showing the number of cups and the other, the volume in litres. Both of these are marked in contrasting white and very easy to read. Unusually, these windows are also not behind the handle, so reading the measures is even easier.
With a maximum capacity of only 1.5 litres, the Dualit is smaller than most of the kettles we tested. However, that’s still enough for around six cups of tea, so unless you have a particularly big household or host tea parties, this shouldn’t be a problem.
The base is smaller than average as well, giving it a compact feel. For small kitchens, the Dualit would allow you to save counter space easily. The lid is a pull-up one but, unusually, it’s hinged, so dropping it back into place is effortless and it clicks in easily, while the silicone handle offers good grip. Its smaller capacity means the kettle is lighter than others we tested when full and the design is easy to carry.
Other design features include a satisfyingly chunky ‘on’ switch, and a white light at the bottom of the kettle that clearly shows when it’s in operation. Arguably, one of the downsides is that it’s a heavily branded kettle – the Dualit logo appears twice on the body, once on the lid and three times on the base.
When it comes to the main business of boiling water, it does that fairly quickly – we tested it several times, recording an average time of 2 minutes 26 seconds for a litre. It also pours very easily with a spout that ensures no drips. Finally, it’s also BPA-free, so it didn’t have that off-putting plastic smell when used for the first time.
