Pros
- Lightweight, quiet
Cons
- Poor position of power cord
Bosch CleverMixx MFQ2420 hand mixer summary
This mixer is simple to use and lightweight, as well as being budget-friendly. There are just four speed settings to choose from, which might not be enough for some. But, during our tests, it was fast enough to whisk cream and egg whites quickly while also mixing buttercream without creating a giant cloud of icing sugar. Our only complaint is that it’s easy to flick the switch to turbo as you’re turning it off, which could be messy if you are in the habit of removing the beaters as you switch it off.
The main beaters are a tad flimsy, but the dough hooks are very sturdy and cope well with heavy dough. Both are dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. It’s quiet in use and has a comfortable handle, but the plastic has no grip, so it’s best not to hold it with damp or greasy hands. Additionally, the power cord is poorly positioned, so it can catch on your wrist during use.

Our first impressions of the Bosch CleverMixx MFQ2420 hand mixer
This uncomplicated mixer has a simple design and lightweight feel. The shiny black plastic exterior is inoffensive and won’t look out of place in most kitchens. But, the chunky polystyrene in the box is an unwelcome piece of packaging.
The substantial dough hooks certainly mean business, whereas the beaters have a thinner design that’s somewhere in between a wire whisk and more heavy duty beater. The switch on top of the handle clicks firmly into each of the four speed settings. But, as you turn it off, it’s easy to accidentally flick it into turbo mode.
How is the Bosch CleverMixx MFQ2420 hand mixer to use?
Our favourite feature of this Bosch mixer is how light it feels, particularly in comparison to others we’ve reviewed. The handle is comfortable to hold, though not very grippy, so you’ll want to avoid holding it with wet or greasy hands. Frustratingly though, the power cable shoots up from the back end of the handle, which means it catches against your wrist in use.
Although it only has four power levels, this Bosch mixer doesn't struggle with any mixing or whisking tasks. The dough hooks mix up bread dough with ease and we don’t experience any shaking or vibration. The first speed setting is gentle enough to mix buttercream without creating a cloud of icing sugar. It's especially fast at whisking egg whites and is quiet, too.
Our verdict
This budget-friendly mixer is lightweight and easy to use; it’s a good all-rounder, but the four speed levels might not offer enough control for experienced bakers.
