What are your first impressions of the Beaba Up & Down?
I wasn't familiar with the Beaba brand, but I thought the idea of easily adjusting the chair to table or breakfast bar height was great. The chair is not too bulky, so even though it doesn't have a design that allows it to blend in with other furniture, it looked good.
Is the Beaba Up & Down easy to assemble?
The high chair was super-easy to assemble, with most parts sliding and clicking into place. There was only one bit of screwing required and the tool came with it, so it went from box to upright very quickly. The instructions were easy to follow and the parts were clearly labelled, which was much appreciated.
What age is the Up & Down suitable for?
This chair is available for children from 6 to 36 months – it doesn't have any extras to adapt it for newborns.
How secure is the high chair?
I was impressed by how sturdy and stable the chair was, considering it is quite compact. It felt secure even with a child wriggling about.
What is the safety harness like?
The chair comes with a harness which was very easy to adjust. The chair felt very safe as the seat itself was quite snug. You can also get a child in and out without fuss.
How big is the tray and is it a good height for a child?
I tested this chair with a seven-month-old baby and the tray was a good size. There was room enough for a bowl and a cup. The tray is easily removable, which is good for cleaning, and it can also be removed so the child can sit at the table.
Can you adjust the high chair in any other way?
For me, the biggest pro of this chair was the fact that the height can be adjusted to breakfast bar or table height – it has six different options with the seat going as low as 70cm and as high as 90cm.
What is its footprint?
It is 68cm wide, 57cm in depth.
Is the seat padded?
No, but a cushion is available for purchase.
Is there adequate support for the child?
Yes, my child kept his posture most of the time while eating.
Is it easy to clean?
Yes, it has a very clean design, so food doesn't get stuck in small holes you didn't know were there.
Is it easy to store?
No, one downside of this high chair is that it's not foldable
Are there any accessories available for purchase?
Just the padded seat liner.
